I realised a while ago that I've been blogging for over a year now, and my last post about my skincare routine has changed since my last post, so I thought I'd do an updated post for you, on what I'm currently using and loving!
Cleansers
I have quite a few different cleansers that I keep on the go, I like to have a choice depending on how my skin is feeling that day. I tend to steer away from foaming gel cleansers, I suffer with quite oily skin and using foaming washes can make it worse. Oil and balm consistencies are much more suitable, so you'll notice that a lot of my favourites are not scrubs or face washes.
Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil £10.00
This is lovely as a first cleanse to remove make-up, the consistency of oil really melts your make-up and feels really silky to apply. I apply this straight onto dry skin, massage it in and remove with a warm cloth/flannel.
Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter £10.00
This is a cleansing balm consistency, it's great to remove make-up because it melts into an oil when you massage it in. Again, I apply this straight onto dry skin, massage it in and remove it with a flannel. You need to warm this in your hands a little first to loosen it, as it's quite solid.
Una Brennan Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil £10.99
I love this one because of the scent, it's a gorgeous citrus-fresh smell. Again, it's great at removing make-up because it's an oil. It's best used on dry skin and removed with a cloth.
Elemis Sensitive Cleansing Wash, £22.50
I love to use this in the morning in the shower, it's a gel consistency that lathers up nicely, without stripping the skin! There's no sulfates or harsh ingredients in here, it's suitable for even sensitive skin. It smells gorgeous - the main ingredients are chamomile which is great for redness, thyme which is a natural anti-septic - brilliant for acne-prone skin, and ladys mantle which is a herb that helps maintain the skins natural pH level. This is amazing not only as a facewash, but also for men to use to shave with, as a handwash, and it's also suitable to use as a body wash, particularly on intimate areas, rather than using harsh soaps or shower gels that can cause sensitivity.
Elemis Smart Cleanse Micellar Water £24.00
This is my favourite micellar water, some other brands that you can buy on the high street have alot of fragrance, alcohol and synthetic detergents in them. I tend to only use micellar waters when I'm feeling 'lazy' or need to quickly remove my make-up before cleansing properly. This one is extremely soothing, as it contains organic rose water and chamomile. On a side note; using a micellar water alone is not enough to clean your skin! See my cleansing post here.
Elemis Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing oil £29.50
This is my current favourite oil cleanser, it's blended with over 90% natural oils including Winter rose and chia seed oil, pomegranate, plus omega 9. The scent is a subtle almost citrus scent. I tend to apply it onto dry skin and remove with a cloth/flannel - this ensures you get all your make up off. If you aren't wearing make-up, this can also be rinsed off.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, £40
This is one of my all time favourite cleansers. The texture is so silky and smooth, and it smells incredible. It's a balm consistency that melts into an oil when you apply it, and then turns into a milk when you apply some water. It has rose, mimosa, starflower and elderberry oils, it's really nourishing for dry or dehydrated skin, and is also really deeply cleansing for oily skin, and a great treatment for open pores. I apply this onto dry skin, massage it in and remove with a cloth. It can also be used as a mask if you leave it on for 10 minutes. I love it!
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm £38
This is probably my second favourite cleanser, it's gorgeous! Again, it's a balm consistency that melts into an oil on contact with the skin. Moringa is a great anti-oxidant for the skin, it helps draw out all the bad stuff! Plus, it smells amazing.
