The Ordinary Skincare

I recently discovered a skincare brand that is taking the beauty world by storm. I ran out of my current retinol product 'Luna' by Sunday Riley, it has a pretty hefty price tag so I was looking for something more affordable.

The brand is called 'The Ordinary' by Deciem, who also have two other skincare brands, Hylamide (which make one of my favourite hylauronic acid serums) and NIOD.

The Ordinary want to provide good quality products at reasonable prices. The packaging is very simple and almost clinical looking, the brand is about results. It's not a particularly 'luxurious' brand, in that their products are unscented, and just 'do what they say on the tin' - as you would say.

The main reason that this range has been so successful, is because everything in the range is so cheap, and the ingredients used throughout their range are proven to actually work.

In the beauty industry, there is so many options for good quality skincare, and they are nearly always expensive..particularly if you are used to buying products from the high street that are generally under £5.

I was amazed (and excited!) to see that nearly all of this range is under £10. Yes! UNDER £10!

Here are the items I purchased;

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, £5.00

This is great for blemishes, redness and balancing oil in the skin. I've been using it in the mornings, underneath my moisturiser. It has no scent, and is a slightly gel/watery consistency.

This serum is one of the more expensive & advanced products that The Ordinary offer, it is an anti-ageing serum, with multiple peptides in it. This also contains hyaluronic acid, so is great for dehydration lines too.

This is a really light textured, almost watery consistency. This one is designed to be used around the eyes. The 5% caffeine in this has been shown to reduce dark circles, and puffiness. You can use this alone, or mix it with your current eye product to help give it a boost.

This is a really great acid toner, it has aloe vera and ginseng in it, along with 7% glycolic acid. It helps with fine lines & wrinkles, open pores and uneven skin tone, it's great for giving skin a light exfoliation without stripping or aggravating the skin.The price tag is amazing, it's comparable to some other acid toners on the market, which are double the price!

Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%, £4.90

Vitamin C is a great anti oxidant, and helps to brighten the skin. This also has dehydrated spheres of hyaluronic acid in it, to help smooth fine lines & combat dehydration, it's kept in an airtight tube to keep it stable, which also makes it easy to dispense. This does feel tingly when you apply it, and the spheres give it a slightly gritty texture - I find this better used at night.

If you're looking for a really great, inexpensive skincare range, I'd definitely recommend giving this a try! The names and ingredients can be quite confusing, so just do a bit of research as to what you are looking for before you buy.

Have you tried anything by The Ordinary?
